Water can get into crazy places, including finding its way through shrink wrap. A tarp is good insurance, adding a moving blanket between the two makes it even better.

Looks like a factory piece for sure, I'm guessing something for the original computer. Personally I've never seen anything in that location because most all the G-Bodies I've seen have been modified already.

Depends on the part you get I believe, also may depend on the part number... i.e. 2 different numbers for the same part, one is Chinese the other is USA. I don't know if they do this with current parts but worth a look. I got all mine from O'Reilly, used their house brand that had numbers nearly...

Not that it's worth much, but I don't have an electric choke (so no pressure switch). I do have a Grand Prix dash with oil pressure gauge. It's a little mismatched but I'm using the stock sending unit for the '88 pickup the engine came out of. I haven't verified the pressure is accurate...

I often see G-Body 8.5s for 400-600 depending on condition, sometimes they've had a little minor work (seals, etc.) done, sometimes not. I've also seen some people want $1000+ for a 100% stock, untouched assembly, but those people are a little crazy. I'd say if you can get it for under $500 you...

I'm still considering this wheel/tire combo. Do wagons have more room for rubber in the rear? What are you running up front for the suspension again? Looks like it sits about where mine does now.

Sooooo 7FAM points to an '87 pickup with a 4.3... here's hoping the claim by the guy I bought it from that the car he bought it from's claim of a rebuild is true.

Does anyone have info on casting numbers that would be able to help with what vehicle this came from? Far as I can tell it's a 1987, but that's about it.

I am genuinely jealous (still). I've spent years trying to find a deal that fits my budget... I've come across an LS1/T56 car for a screaming deal, and of course the owner didn't list his phone number and doesn't seem to know how to respond to or read email.

I have a Comp XE268 in mine, it's street-friendly and makes very good power on a stock long block with a 600cfm carb.

I had that size on mine, but they were Camaro/Corvette wheels :roll: I had some thick adapters to run them but traded the wheels for the Irocs I have now. I want to go back to a wide 17 when money permits for wheels/tires... would love to stick with the Iroc style but I have yet to see a 17...

Literally the first result... it's not quite a 10s quarter but it's close, and mostly stock parts. A 6.2 with a little more cam might get you there... you might run a little faster than the guy in the thread though if he's close to stock weight, those cars are slightly heavier I believe...
