What did U do to your G-body today??

You can get one for an 87 camaro 305. The bolt patterns are slightly different and won't allow the wrong flywheel to go on. One other major thing is to make sure itsl's a 153-tooth flywheel, the 168-tooth won't fit in the bellhousing.

What did U do to your G-body today??

It won't since it's a one piece rms block.

    No surfacing has been done.

    Squishy, squishy (quench distance)

I kind of guessed I wouldn't have valve issues, being a near-stock type piston. Funny thing is it's $8-9 cheaper per gasket at Autozone/Oreilly's. Are most decks around .025" high?

    Squishy, squishy (quench distance)

I'd read some more about engine dynamics (scr vs dcr, quench, etc.) after I'd built the engine (go figure ). It wasn't very easy to find a set of .020" over 3.75" stroke pistons  Plus had I known a little more about quench, etc. I would've probably just gone .030" and opened up my...

    Squishy, squishy (quench distance)

So I'm getting close to being ready to put the Vortec heads on my truck, but I'm not 100% sure what I should be looking at for quench distance. Currently it's 3.75"x4.020", not decked, and the heads are near 64cc (both current and Vortecs). The current gaskets are stock replacement Fel Pro, I...

    RPM Change

Note a taller tire will also slow acceleration some. Depending on what gear you have will affect the difference you "feel".

    Vortec cooling

Also, if you have the temp. sensor in the head you'll see a faster change in readings, since the sensor is right between two exhaust ports that are in direct contact with coolant. I saw a noticeable change in temperature readings depending on how much timing my engine had as well. I wasn't...

    Aftermarket radio install

Yep. You'll need to either cut your current trim plate or get one from a later car with a Din and ½ radio... I wouldn't be too concerned with your original trim plate unless it's a radio-delete one, in which case you can make a few bucks off them, because far as I know nobody makes radio-delete...

backup lights stay on with running lights and headlamps

It's a curved switch that sits on top of the column somewhat close to the base, near the hi-beam switch.

backup lights stay on with running lights and headlamps

Did you double check all the grounds (specifically anything related to the running lights)? Electricity goes funny places when it can't find its intended ground.

What did U do to your G-body today??

That's an awesome pit crew :awesome: I did NOTHING to my G-Body, but I plan to finish porting the Vortecs for the truck tonight.

    Vortec cooling

210º isn't really anything to worry about, typical operating temps. I don't have anything on mine and it's the same way.

    Aftermarket radio install

Scosche, Metra, etc. You can look on the rear of the case and if it lists a G-Body Monte or El Camino it will fit, just follow the instructions for one of those vehicles, the dash is the same.

    Aftermarket radio install

You can get a kit that's meant for the later Montes/El Caminos. For some reason Malibus sometimes aren't listed.

    17in wheel/tire decision.

I had thought of that, but was also thinking that an SBC makes a good deal more torque than a 4 cylinder car, so I didn't really consider mentioning it.
