What did U do to your G-body today??

Yeah, but you definitely know if the fan clutch seizes! I had one do that on my '88 full size pickup, there was a noticeable decrease in power.

What did U do to your G-body today??

A clutch fan won't necessarily rob any power, a solid-mount one will though, plus I've heard of horror stories... people being hurt, radiators punctured, hoods damaged, etc. from those flex fans coming apart.

What did U do to your G-body today??

Not for the 'Bu, but I did 90% or more of the porting on one of the Vortec heads \:D/ I may do the other one late tonight, it's just too dang hot to do anything in the garage right now.

    17in wheel/tire decision.

If the overall diameter is the same, acceleration will be he same. If you go to a taller tire then acceleration won't be as fast.

1980 malibu original rear end gears?

Yes. They also usually had slightly deeper gears for the manual transmission cars (2.73, 3.08, etc.).

1980 malibu original rear end gears?

Performance will likely go up to a point, gas mileage will go down unless you have o/d and a lockup converter. What size cam do you have? Other engine specs?

    TPI Views.............?

I plan on TPI one day, soon as the wallet allows it. TPI/Vortec base: $400+, larger runners, $$$, injectors, $$$, EBL modified for port injection, $$$, etc. etc. etc. Read an article (OMG not another publication ) where they tested 4 EFI intakes with a mild cam, GM TPI, GM Ram Jet...

    chevy bolt pattern

... and the wheels are typically 0-offset, meaning the mounting point is in the center of the wheel, as opposed to being to one side or the other as with late model F-Body wheels. Once you get past a certain width you'll need to go with (I believe) 4.5" backspacing, or somewhere around that.

    Bouncing Speedo Needle

Yeah, my gas gauge does the same thing. One of the guys on here (blownbigblock) makes 'bolt in' sheetmetal panels you can mount aftermarket gauges in... personally I like it more and it's much cheaper than a set of Dakota gauges.

    Bouncing Speedo Needle

The speedometer works using a ring inside a spinning magnet, the faster it spins the higher the speedo reads. There is a wound spring that counteracts this. A lot of older speedometers are prone to this. You could try lubricating the speedometer cable or replacing it. How much does the fuel...

    275/45/17 ??

Looking at Summit's site it appears you're correct. I looked up 275/40s and they say minimum recommended width is 9", 275/60/15s however are 7.5"... I'm no tire expert but it seems like minimum width goes up with aspect ratio... so I'm guessing it may be possible with 275/45s, if they make that...

    4.3 vortec wiring diagram.

Haynes manuals typically have wiring diagrams in them. I'm not positive they're the same between S10 and C/K trucks, but they should be. I have an '88-'98 C/K manual with powertrain diagrams for both TBI v6/v8 and CFI v6/v8.

    700r4...

Also, most (maybe all) later 700R4s had VSS instead of a regular speedo gear, so that's easily changed, or you could just put in an electronic speedo.

    275/45/17 ??

I remember someone on here had 275/40/17s on 4 17x8s, but I can't remember his username for the life of me and I'm not sure if he had to do anything to the lip or not. malibu795 was doing fitment, etc. checks on his with 17xx wheels and tires.

    350tbi build what to expect?

I think with a street 350 you would be best staying at under 190ccs (depending on cam), going larger and you'll hurt port velocity. Two of the biggest let-downs in the TBI engines were the cams and the heads. The heads would do you good up to about 300hp, but that's about it, and they make...

    Vortec heads/valves/seals

Yeah I'm somewhat on he fence about it. If I get a set of factory Vortecs I'll have to have them tapped for screw in studs anyway, I'd just need to see what they'd charge for urning down the guides.

    Tbi won't fire????

Well it's basically a new truck then \:D/

What did U do to your G-body today??

Not only that, I have to use the only EGR-equipped one, which is available from GM at $300 a pop new. I found one on CL listed for about $150 though.
