    ? +60 400 sbc

In a 400 I wouldn't run anything longer than 5.7" rods. The wrist pin gets up into the oil control ring land area if you use anything longer than 5.7s. I'm not a big fan of that kind of stuff.

    zz383 install gone wrong?

Rich's pictures are accurate. The mount is as far forward as possible- to the point that one corner of the mount overhangs the front of the crossmemeber. I recall you other thread as well and it does look like you've got them mounted about an inch further back than where a stock set of mounts...

Which mounts for zz383? Need help.

Looks like you just converted over to early-style mounts (pre-1974ish). The kind that have the rubber isolator built into the engine-side of the mount (vs. later style mounts that have it captured in the frame-side of the mount). If you wanted to keep using the later style mounts you just...

    98 S-10 CLUSTER ?'S-GM Tech's

Does your coil even have a tach wire coming off of it? I tend to doubt it does. Look at the 2-wire connector attached to the coil that goes back to the vehicle wiring harness (not the other coil connector that goes to the distributor). It will have a big pink wire (12V+ for coil power) but...

    under hood supercharger

I've got the slightly taller 142 design under a Harwood 2-1/2" hood, but man it's tight getting a reasonable air cleaner setup to fit. The 144 sits the carb about 1/2" lower than the 142, so it would fit better under a small cowl hood like what I've got.

    pls help with converter recomendation

I've got some experience with that blower..... 495 at the rear wheels is definitely not reality. I have a milder setup than you using that blower, but sitting on a 383ci bottom end. I'm putting 390 to the rear wheels at 6000 RPMs and my MPH tells me that's about right (113-114 on street...

    Rear End Vibe

I know you had the wheels and tires balanced, but did you have them check the runout (i.e. are they really ROUND)? You can balance a bent wheel or egged-out tire, but that doesn't mean it'll run smooth. Had a highway shimmy in my '05 Magnum (company car) that couldn't be balanced out by the...

    MSD distributor O-rings

The o-rings would have nothing to do with an external oil leak. Just a gasket up top. And I agree, don't use the o-rings if it's stock block and/or street driven.

    upper control arms

My first question would be if you are sure those arms are designed to work with that rear end in your car. Agreed, the pinion should be slightly down vs. the driveshaft. Only requres a couple degrees of difference. If you find it's not, then maybe the rear end or the arms (upper and/or lower)...

    Compression - Pump Gas

Flattops and 72 cc heads on a 400 would be in the low 10s for compression, at the bare minimum. 175 PSI cranking compression with that big a cam tells me it's probably in the mid 10s at least. Long story short- dicey, but not outside the realm of possibility for pump gas. I'd pull that timing...

    Head/Piston CC volume

Stock 350 TBI heads were 64cc- all of them. Flattops would bring compression up very close to stock with 72cc heads. You're on the right path.

    Bronze Tip Fuel Pump Pushrod

Check with the cam manufacturer. The one time I used one it had freaky-fast wear.

    GM Head gasket Q

Used them several times with aluminum heads including the AFR-headed 383 in my Malibu currently. They work fine. The 1094 Fel Pros are a coated steel shim (which is why they are thinner than the GM composition gaskets) and apparently also work real well, although I have never used them personally.

Piston anti friction coating worth it?

That's mostly for cold-start anti-scuffing protection. When the old is hot and the crank is throwing plenty of it around it doesn't do much. For a daily driver or something that's going to see some miles under various stop/start condtions I can see where it would help.

    142 blower?

No. I have the 142 in my 78 Malibu and it barely fits under a 2-1/2" cowl hood even after playing plenty of air cleaner games. The Monte might have a smidge more hood clearance to start with than my Malibu, but expect no miracles. They call them "underhood blowers" but in reality they are...
