    spare tire problem

Keep a wheel that fits each set of studs? You could probably get a 15x4 wheel that fits the 5/8" studs I'm guessing.

It looks like GBodyParts.com lists '86 for the first year.

    Converting the Slow-wagon to t-56

I was considering that or a button on the shifter ball if I went with a T56.

drop spindles and tie rod rub

A while back I was running 15" 3rd Gen Z28 wheels with Hotchkis springs and 2" Belltech spindles, the only thing that rubbed was the wheel on the a-arm.

    Converting the Slow-wagon to t-56

I drove the Malibu pretty hard on the factory clutch setup, and the only time it didn't grab hold was when I was shifting fast as I could, even then it was just a very short slip, you should have nothing to worry about.

Instrument cluster bulbs are out / cluster removal question

Re: Instrument cluster bulbs are out / cluster removal quest There are 4 sheet metal nuts holding the cluster in place. There is a clip holding the speedo cable to the speedometer, and the prndl indicator has a little clip attached to the column (if it's not broken/gone). There is a chance the...

    What springs?

I have a set of Hotchkis springs on my 2-door, front is 600lb/in and rear is 150 or 160lb/in., sits like the current picture in my signature. It rides good for a street car, never really tried to push it since doing the frame-off, still sorting out noises & whatnot. The front springs would...

Reading Plugs in Kohler V Twin

It'd be interesting to see regardless... maybe that cylinder got hot? The 350 in the Malibu originally had bad oil rings on #1 (why I put it in knowing that is beyond me... I was younger & dumber then). It burned a quart of oil every 100 miles, I guess part of me hoped it might've been a valve...

    Converting the Slow-wagon to t-56

That's strange... I wonder if it has to do with the clutch setup being a little different. I'm wondering if it's possible to use the correct diameter/spline clutch disc for a T56 and use a stock G-Body flywheel/pressure plate with a hydraulic t/o bearing. You could also send 388bu a message...

Reading Plugs in Kohler V Twin

Re: Reading Plugs I would think probably rings as well, unless it was overfilled like my aunt did once on her little push mower  She filled it until oil came out the dipstick opening, and then she couldn't start it. I went over and when I finally got it started I fogged her yard and 2 of...

    Converting the Slow-wagon to t-56

I don't believe so, the F-Body flywheels are 153 tooth, never seen otherwise.

    Converting the Slow-wagon to t-56

Also, the TR6060 that's in the new Camaros, Mustangs, etc. use the T56 main case, but have different tailhousongs for the remote style shifters... I have yet to find some worthwhile info in one spot but I believe with an output shaft you can put the T56 housing on. Those are rated for...

    Converting the Slow-wagon to t-56

http://www.thegearbox.org/T56.html I'm not sure how hard some of those parts are to find, but they do sell an adapter plate that allows use of an older style bellhousing with the T56 case, so you could run a hydraulic t/o bearing, or use the stock G-Body bellhousing/clutch linkage with a clutch...

rear susp (trailing arms, sway bar, etc) upgrade ques.

I don't have any experience with the aftermarket arms, but I'm running all new bushings (body mounts are poly, all other suspension is new rubber) with some handling upgrades (bigger sway bar, rear sway bar, boxed in stock trailing arms, F41 braces underneath with a GP bar across the frame...

    LS1 Standalone Setup for LS1/4L60E?

Looked up a couple vendors that have been around a while (Speartch and Howell) and they're both pretty much the same for a harness, around $700-800. If you want to do custom tuning later on you could get HPTuners, but I think it's about the same as the harness. I think a mail order tune for a...

    4-speed worth looking at?

The first 4-speed I got was one of the 2 tallest gears, I forget which one, don't think it had any rings on the input, made a heck of a ruckus because a bunch of bearings chewed up the gears.

    tach light wire install

The illumination wire? I believe it's a gray wire on the car harness, at least according to the diagrams in the tech section. You may be able to just run it straight from the headlight switch plug, just double check it before putting everything to make sure it works :)
