I've used everything in the Fiero over the past few years, haven't had any problems yet knock on wood... If that ever goes south I want to try to find a roller cam though (2.8 v6).
If a lobe was wiped, would be a good idea to have the block cleaned, don't want shavings where they shouldn't be.
A cam with a powerband up to about 4500-5000 peak should be fine, and retain stock street manners.
Purple Power! After scraping off any real heavy stuff, I use a spray bottle, and let it soak for a couple minutes (I make sure it doesn't dry up), then use a brush (nylon should work ok)
I think it varies by engine, but yes it would be more lift & duration on the intake... .520 with 1.6 rockers would be about .555" lift. It would be hard to guess duration due to different ramp profiles, but it will be slightly longer.
Possibly... the bolt pattern is different (or dowel is in a different spot, etc.), but the pressure plate and clutch disc never really get very close to that area. I had this clutch on a '78 305 when I originally converted the last car to a 3-speed from TH350.
I'm thinking I will step up a tad...
That is pretty cool, I remember I had a class at the local college in MI back around 2006-2007 where we came up with a part design (however simple it was I think it was some sort of butterfly valve), come up with an assembly process (time to put it together), then used a printer to make it and...
I don't remember exactly what I did when I swapped the one piece rms 350 in place of the old 305... I'm thinking I just put the pressure plate/disc on the new flywheel but I'm not positive. I'm about to start looking at clutch kits in case I have to replace the current one in the '78 (pedal...
Ignition/turn signal may work, I'm kind of in the same boat... I do know the wiper controls won't work though. I still have to sort out mine, everything went together in a rush before it was moved out here to AZ.
I discovered that when I was able to still shift it without using the pedal... helped ease my worries a little, guess it's time to cash in on that lifetime warranty from AutoZone  I don't think I have more than 4000-4500 miles on the clutch, but it's probably 15 years old or more... and the...
A few days ago something went wrong with the clutch, have yet to look at it, linkage looks fine but the pedal feels almost solid... Not sure if a problem with the throw out or the clutch itself, feels almost like the pressure plate won't release... guess I'm moving up that 4-speed rebuild a...
Also, was the M21 only 2.20:1 in 1st? Kind of a bummer, I'm between a T-10 or rebuilding the Saginaw... I'll probably be a little over a third toward a new T-10 from Summit by the time I'm done with the Saginaw, but so far the Saginaw's been fine with me picking on it.
I'm still thinking I'll...
