Think I'm going to attempt a rebuild on the Saginaw...

Oh yeah, I was gonna get pics... guess it was a BBC. ... and a turbo Regal, another someone I know, don't know him that well but the last time I heard it run, the turbo sounded like it belonged on a diesel

Think I'm going to attempt a rebuild on the Saginaw...

Yeah, I always thought they were cool. This is the only pic I can find of said truck, I got ahold of my other buddy who might have some pictures.

Think I'm going to attempt a rebuild on the Saginaw...

Thanks for the advice, it will probably be a little while until I tear it out, but I will most likely be following this route since I don't have a large amount of disposable income to put toward a TKO600, T56, etc. I also want to attempt this: I've wanted a v-gate ever since I ran across them...

Think I'm going to attempt a rebuild on the Saginaw...

I can't believe the prices I've been seeing Saginaws go for... it's like they're gold now, units that aren't even rebuilt - those are $600+, I thought that was T10 territory? :-k...

    Maliburacing gallery (Post your car)

:roflback: The guy with the white hair has a '70 Camaro (at least I think that's what he said), I don't know if it's stock or not, but he's a little more old school than the rest of course. It was a bit of a hoot because I don't think most of them had really seen any semblance of a muscle car...

Think I'm going to attempt a rebuild on the Saginaw...

... just not sure how soon exactly. It's done me well and has taken whatever I've thrown at it (~375hp/415lbft), but it's had a couple small hiccups almost the entire time I've owned it. Downshifting to 2nd from 3rd anywhere above 20mph or so it wants to crunch as it goes into gear (below that...

    Maliburacing gallery (Post your car)

If it shows up... one of the guys from work took a pic I didn't know about. How many Hyundai/Mazda techs does it take to check the oil???

Fuel Sending Unit Electric Wire ???'s

Was it one of those push-on type ends? I attempted a rebuild on an original unit in an '84 DeVille but it didn't work unfortunately. The 1/4 tank may have been resistance at the connection, I'm pretty sure the sending units are 0 ohms empty, 99 full normally.

    Idea for fiberglass hoods

That's strange, he's still a very active member on PFF (Fiero.nl), it popped up through Google search and I just pasted the URL. Maybe I'll just take a couple good pics of mine to share

    Idea for fiberglass hoods

Do you mean the actual hood latch? Yeah, those are weird, I have no idea why they thought it needed 2 latches to start with.

Horn button help - Monte Carlo steering wheel

Thanks O.D. I'll have to send you a message :) Thanks for the pics too, does that stub press up on the metal cup? I'm trying to visualize how the relay is grounded, and that's the only way I can figure it right now.

    Idea for fiberglass hoods

I've seen some look for ideas for their 'glass hoods, and I'm not sure why I hadn't thought of it sooner, but Fieros use a latching type hood strut on one side, that locks in 2 positions. And adapted for the rear Just thought I'd put it out there, it isn't spring loaded or anything.

Horn button help - Monte Carlo steering wheel

So here's what I have, and I'm having trouble tracking down a picture of the rest of what I would need for the horn button... I seem to remember some sort of little retainer that holds the horn button, but I don't know what it looks like or how to install it.

    4L60E for a Malibu

I was thinking it was 60E that needed a controller, yours is just a 700R4 (later called a 4L60, no E). There are diagrams for the TV cable, if set wrong you can have low line pressure and burn up the trans... higher pressure won't necessarily hurt it. You can tune shifts via a shift...

ANY BODY with 20 inch rim pics

16-17 isn't a problem, I'm running 4 stock Iroc fronts they rub a hair on the control arm, so I need to get a thin spacer (maybe 1/4"?). You're probably looking around 4 7/8" max backspacing with 17s regardless of wheel width.

Setting timing without a timing light

I got this tip from a guy I worked with... old school circle track racer here in Tucson (watched him rebuild a Q-Jet in about 45 minutes total time to boot ), I don't have my own pics, but it's not a very complicated process. 1)Rotate until the pointer is on the amount of advance you...

    4L60E for a Malibu

There are also lockup kits, but they're overpriced, you can build your own with a relay and a vacuum switch, then under heavier throttle it will lock up only while at a steady speed. You could still use the brake switch like Pete mentioned too.
