I have a 87 Cutlass 442 which I installed a NEW regular sending unit in the tank but I did not have the original sending unit electric wire for the unit so I clipped on a clip on the stud and the gauge was working right(NEW GAUGE) but now the gauge only goes to 1/4 full does anyone know where I can get the original fuel sending electric wire from or does this sound like a trip to the scrapyard? Thanks :? :? :?

Was it one of those push-on type ends? I attempted a rebuild on an original unit in an '84 DeVille but it didn't work unfortunately. The 1/4 tank may have been resistance at the connection, I'm pretty sure the sending units are 0 ohms empty, 99 full normally.

These cars have 0-90 ohm fuel gauges. A lot of times repairing a fuel sender wire changes the impedance and the gauge reads funky.
