electrician here and 78 elky said it all higher voltage less currnt less heat
but higher voltage can give you trouble with components that aren't rated for the voltage very hard on electronics.

Before you buy a 16V - if you haven't already - take a look at this.

We have a number of them in cars, and they are working very well.
The ignition and trans brake will always see 16V even if the battery is low.
You will notice the engine starts much easier because the ignition always sees 16V - no drop in voltage when you hit the starter.
So it's only advantage is easy starting? I would think running 2 16v-ers over a single 12v is just adding weight unless the added voltage overcomes that 20+lbs
