17x9 with 275 on the front

Hey Doob, if you don't mind me asking, did you have to run a spacer or anything on the back? The rear is tucked about like I want mine, but it's hard to find any info on whether a 9-9.5" wheel will fit in the back. I don't want to notch my rear frame rails, and seems everyone running a wheel that wide is notched.

As for the front, so you would recommend just going with an 8" wheel, and same backspacing as rear?

I want an 18" wheel all the way around, but I want a 9-9.5" wheel on the back and finding someone who's done it without cutting up there car is difficult. I know you're running 17" wheels, but I wonder if the extra 1" in diameter will make me have to find a different backspacing to clear.

It's not as much wheel size as it is overall height/width and backspacing. Those wheels needed a 2.25"-2.5" adapter in the rear, overall backspacing in the rear is about 4.875", meaning roughly 1/4" offset inboard. You will need to roll/cut the fender lip to avoid slicing the sidewall.

With the lowered spindles I'm using, the absolute max backspacing is roughly 4.875", any more and it would interfere with the spindle itself. Stock spindles would take a little more but you would be to the point of hitting the a-arm at full lock, with the 4.875" it just cleared. The wheel/tire setup stuck almost exactly 1" from the front fender, so an 8" wheel with similarly sized tire would put it about 1/2" in from the edge of the fender.

A guy is likely trading me a set of 16x8 Irocs for those wheels, and when I can tear the front end apart for a possibly better set of arms I'll revisit wheels wider than 8"... the rears are fine with 9.5".

I think somebody was asking about 285/40s awhile back. I am playing around with my corvette wheels and came up with this. Frame clearance on the inside at the closest point is 1/4" Offset on the wheels with the 2" spacers is 1/4" negative. So basically the wheels are 17x9.5 with 1/4" negative...

they fit they fit they fit!!!!!!! 275/40/70 maxxis tires) on craggar 17x9 5" BS BBC iron head 5608 moog virgin springs. and in no certain order.. only saw two problem areas the ont he forward part of the fender can earliy be trimed... as for the back... having inside mount weights they hit,,, going to be picking up some 1/4" spacers for the back

Have you driven it with those tires on the front? I'm very interested to see they will rub anywhere else. I'm only running 245/50/16 all the way around and the fronts rub on full lock.

im running 245/60/15 and the rub on the, a arm, sway bar and catch the front fender part, rear side of the fender at full lock... the 275s did not hit any of it...i did a couple figure "8s" in my unlce's roughly plowed field plenty of 4-6" ruts with no rubbing... IIRC yours if lowered mine is not..
outside the front fender like there is min .5-1" clearance on the "pinch" points and plenty of clearance on the tire to inside fo the rolled lip at the top.

Mine is lowered, a lot! LOL I already clearanced the front lower lip of the fenders and lower airdam.

i cant go lower... depending which family gravel driveway i go in i scrap the center section as it is..

like to put these wheels on it... 275/315 f/r would be a nice stance

That would be killer . I've never understood how people fit wide tires on the rear though. My 245's are less than 1/4" away from the frame, and less than 1/4" away from the fender lip, I could roll the lip, but I won't gain that much room to jump up to a 275...
