Are any of you using 235/60/15 tires up front. If so what size rims and back space are you running.

I'm especially interested in 15x7 ralley wheels with this tire.

Yep, on 15x8 '80 Vette alloys, 4" backspace. Clear everything fine. Don't like the way they look (short) compared to the 225/70s I had, but the 225s and the 255/60s barely caught the bottom of the fenders.

I also ran 235/60 on 15x7 rallies about a million years ago on my '79 Malibu, with no problems.

i just put a set on the front of my wagon with 15x8 rallys. they hit the inner fender on a hard bump but thats probably due to running the original shocks and springs. guess its time to replace em

Thanks for the info guys.

I have a full set of Pontiac Ralley II wheels with 4" BS. They should be similar to the 8" vette wheel, dimension wise. 235/60/15 are on one pair of them, currently on the rear. When I mounted them on the front, the the outter edge of the drivers side tire rubbed the back of the inner fender on left turns. Like maliburacinfreak, the fender lip hits on bumps. That was with Hotchkiss springs and KYB shocks.

With 15x7 (4.25 BS) and 205/65/15 tires the inner sidewalls rubbed the A-Arms at full turns. 3/8" universal spacers took care of that problem but I don't really care for that set-up. What BS do Chevy 15x7 have?

I experimented with a 205/65/15 tire on an 8" rim and everything clears but that was with TRW5660 S-10 truck springs that need some coils clipped. That won't give accurate results until I lower the front. The 205/65s are a bit undersized for the 8" rim and don't look great on them but, I felt it might give me a clue of how 215 or 225/60/15 will fit.

I'd like to use the 8" all around but its looking like I may be better off going with 15x7 on the front. 4" or 3.75" BS would probably be perfect. The 235s on the 8" rims look good on the back but 255 would be even better. That's why I'm intersted in trying the 235s on a 7" rim on the front.

Sorry so long winded.

Thanks,
Bill

I've run 235/60/15's on 86-88 Monte SS wheels on just about every G-body I've owned. Montes, Malibus, you name it. No fitment issues, and they are only .1 inch taller than stock 215/65/15 (stock size) MC SS tires.

I run them on Monte SS alloys and had no problems wioth the stock 229 suspension except if I really ran fast over a speed bump there was a teeny rub. I don't know how they'll be with the BBC springs, A body spindles and the GW upper A-arms. The front track is wider, but Doug says that the increased negative camber eliminates any rubbing.
