Hey crowd.

Just saw an article in GM High-Tech about a GNX using 315/50/16s on 16x10 in the rear. Doesn't say anything about modifying the frame.

Is it possible to fit on our Malibus? Without narrowing the frame?

What is the widest I would be able to go with just rolling the fenders in 16" wheel diameter?

What rim width? Backspacing?

Thank you.

I'm running a 295/50/15 on 15x10 Cragar S/S wheels 3.75 BS and i'm pushing it! I can barely fit my fingers between the inside of the tires and the frame!

I have 295/50s on 15x8 rally's, I can put my fingers in between the frame and tire. Might have to role the lip just a little...I think the Regals have more (or less) fender to worry bout....

I don't think anybody makes a 315/50 R16. 315/35 or 40 R17, maybe, & the minimum rim size for them is 11"...

This is a 315 on my malibu. At this time the tire is against the frame rail. My brother has a monte and a t-type and the same tire fits with about a finger between the frame and the tire. The reason he gets to run that tire without frame mods and we don't is that the body of those cars are about 1" wider then ours.

The real bad part is when we try to run a 9" rim up front well tucking a little tire. It hits the frame, tierods and control arms... same setup on a monte or regal fits no porblem... 1" makes a world of difference.
