You're right, that isnt the correct style. It may work with hose clamps and what not, but its not the way the factory made them. I've found several in my local yards, usually run me about $10 with no pump :D All of them came off of v6 fuel injected Monte's. As for the vent line, no. There are three line on the sender, one for pressure out, one for fuel return, and one for vent. Just plumb it into the line on the sender that goes to the bottom of the tank. The line that goes to just under the top of it is for the vent.

so it seems that my engine has a regulator already on it. There's a 3/8" hard line going into the rail, what looks like a FPR with a vacuum line and everything on it, and a 5/16 hard line going out. Should I use this setup, or should I find another rail with a single inlet and use the corvette filter/regulator?

Im using the same setup you have, it has the regulator on the intake. For your gas tank, a stock pick-up unit works fine, I used the 2 line one. Take it off and out of the gastank and on the smaller line youll see a disk, this was ment to be a vent, take the disk out and that will be your return line, the other is the pickup. Run a vented gascap and run a line from the motor fuel return back to the gastank and your all set.

I used an external HP pump with hose barb ends, summit rubber HP hose, and then at the fuel rail, goto AdvanceAuto, they have a push on fitting that will lock on the factory fuel rail and you can put your hose right on that, use fuel injector hose clamp, not cheapos. just some ideas.

my motor mounts got here, and my icemember shipped. I also got a stock 2001 LS1 camshaft (the .500 lift one) for $30 on the way from the guy I got my F body manifolds from. I'm going to get it running first with the stock cam, and then swap to the LS1 cam and a set of LS1 springs and possibly roller rockers.

anyway, I got a few email replies from jesse at wait4meperformance, but I can't get him to give me a shipping address or a total price, so now i'm looking into lt1wiring to do it instead. Otherwise, I did find a guy local to build me a bolt in 9", so that's happening now too. There's not much going on now other than getting parts located and what not, but they'll be some pictures soon!

latest and greatest
grand national baffled fuel tank is on the way $145 brand new/shipped from 1Aauto.com :)
put the motor in place and decided I didn't like the accessory mounting, so I got a full set off of an f-body from a wrecked car for $200 with the alternator and p/s pump ls1tech :)
going with an ls1 intake since I'll have the room now with the accessories $50 shipped thanks ls1tech :)
cam is next to the engine ready to install $30 shipped thanks ls1tech :)
icemember sitting in the backseat thanks iceman :)
block mounts are in the glove box for now thanks jegs :)
f41 steering box ready to install $50 ebay :)
f-body manifolds in a box ready to go on the engine thanks ls1tech :)
wiring/computer off to jesse $360, thanks wait4meperformance :)
9" being fabbed up. it's a 3.50 gear 28 spline from a truck being narrowed and having mounts put on for g body and correct wheel lug pattern drilled $300
poly motor/trans mounts in a box ready to install (had these for a few years just sitting around)

still need to accomplish:
cts/h3a pan
in tank fuel sender/pump unit
fuel lines (probably just going to run -6 push-lok so it's good forever)
trans cooler lines (-6 push-lok as well)
ls1 injectors/fuel rails
adapters for truck wiring to ls1 injectors
o2 sensor mounting ???
scab pipes from factory manifolds to my existing exhaust
cut 1/2 coil out of my front springs
move the motor mounts
install new body mounts
find out a solution to my column shifter
find wheels (thinking 16" irocs)
camaro water pump and balancer to fit the camaro accessories
get driveshaft measured/cut
mini wire tuck to make it look more appealing
install tubular lower arms (bought a few years ago)
drive.

I'm hoping for low-mid 20's fuel mileage and a 13.XX 1/4 mile (in denver). We'll see how close it gets. I want to have this thing under it's own power in 3 weeks time. Right now it's a hanging frame. No rear end, no front suspension (it's out to make way for the tubular arms), no engine no trans. My total cash in right now is $2000, and I sold the old 350/TH350 for $750, so I'm out of pocket $1250. I want to complete it for $2000 out of pocket. We'll see how close it comes to my goals :) When the real works starts, I'll be sure to snap a bunch of pictures.

push-lok is here. I'm just cleaning up the engine bay and waiting for a few more parts to come, and then I'll start snapping pictures of progress.

still need an oil pan and a few other odds and ends, but it's pretty much ready to go.

a quick update. No pictures as of now, but here's what's happening.

I stripped the accessories and crap off of the 5.3, and did a quick cam swap. It's getting the later ls1/6.0 cam (they are the same). It's still tiny, under .500 lift, but it's bigger than the stock one. My timing chain was trashed, so I ordered one from yank performance (yes, the same guys that do converters). they have an LS2 chain kit that will fit and it's beefier for $75 shipped, and my old one was trashed.

wait4meperformance finished my harness and computer, and I had them set it up for speed density, so it doesn't require the MAF sensor and set it up for 2 electric fans. It's like a piece of art.

I've got my intank pump mounted on my new sender, and it's read to go in the tank. I do have to modity the feed lines. I got the one from gbodyparts.com, but I need to make the compression-to-AN adapters for it fit.

The corvette regulator works well, but the russell fittings are actually touching, so I'm not super impressed by that. I'm going to wrestle them off and grind a couple flat spots in them so they fit better.

LS1 injectors, fuel rails, and intake are all put together, and pretty much ready to bolt on with the truck throttle body, it just needs a new tb gasket, the truck one won't work because my new intake doesn't have EGR. The AN fitting shoots straight out to the driver's side, so I'm a little concerned about it running into the coils. I may have to make a bracket to move them down a bit. stay tuned. I'm also a bit concerned about the coolant crossover now because 388bu has me scared from another post :-k

I got the "how to build high performance chevy ls1/ls6 v8's". It's been awesome. torque specs. cam specs. everything, and detailed pictures for all the standard stuff. coolness. recommended fully.

I'm going to run the H3T pan because it's what burt chevrolet had in stock. It looks sweet, and it even has a little clearanced area for steering stuff. It looks just like the truck pan, but it's about 3" shorter. Pictures to come. And new from burt it was 175 with the pickup, and the CTS pan was 210 without the pickup. I think the price difference is the H3T pan doesn't have an oil level sensor, which I wasn't going to use anyway.

Today is set aside for fuel line plumbing and tank installation. I'm running the nylon braided earls 350 hose with black fittings, and it's all -6. I have a walbro 255 in tank pump because it was only a few dollars more than a stocker, and this will guarantee that i'll never run out of fuel with future upgrades. I got a baffled tank and new sender, so I'm putting it all together today and hopefully jamming it home. And I think I may put in the trans so it'll be ready for me to get the engine ready to measure and mount.
