We got it into the malibu and it starts for about 2 seconds and then shuts down. We think its the anti theft making it not stay running? The motor is out of a 98 suburban.
Anybody have any clues on what we can do?

Not sure on the 98 but the older VATS stuff would not fire the injectors at all if it was engaged.
Check fuel pressure and timing. Open the TB by the mechanical adjustment a bit more, Reset the IAC and TPS position.

Its definitely the vats and the bcm programming in the computer. You need to have all of that deleted and then it will run. You may want to consider having everything deleted from the computer that you wont be using that way you dont run into check engine lights popping on.

Earlier versions of the computer did not contain vats. Had same problem on the cutlass (2000 vortec v6 swap) but swapped in a 96-97 computer from a scrapyard and had it runnin that day for about $40.

sounds like passlock active cutting off fuel

that pcm will need reflash or bypass it with a remote start module
