5 inch back spacing

Will 5 inch backspacing clear the stock frame without notching. It is a 79 Malibu. Thanks

stock rear width? no, a 4.5 barely clears with a 275 60. if you have 8" rims, go with a 3.5-4.5" backspace.

it depends on what kind of tires you plan to run, a 5" backspace wheel will clear the frame technically (it's what I run 18x10 w/5" bs) but if you plan on using a tire with any sidewall bulge at all forget it lol

Technically does that still give your rim to frame the needed clearance to go side to side (play in bushings) like when taking a curve, sharp turn, normal everyday driving with angles into parking lots, ect.?

I've got edelbrock adjustable upper arms, boxed and poly'd lowers, and the factory big sway bar and it never rubs the frame
