I have a SBC 406 shortblock assembled with forged flattop pistons block is stock decked and was wondering how much compression will I have with 64cc and 70cc heads using FelPro 1014(.039" thick) and will there be a big difference in using the 70cc heads from the 64cc I have always used 64cc heads in the past I can get a NEW set of Edelbrock 60739 Aluminum heads for like $500 from a friend or should I go with the 64cc heads for more power and torque, the cam is a Comp Cams Magnum Hyd. Roller with 224/224 duration at .050" with .525/.525 lift on 110 LSA?THANKS

You will be right around 11:1 with 64cc. In that case I would use the aluminum heads and it will still be about the limit for pump gas and any kind of 30+ total timing. 70cc a little safer if they are aluminum and you could make up the difference with a better tune on pump gas IMHO. I'm sure others will chime in with good advice.

me personally, I went with 72cc just because it's in the middle incase you want to run a power adder or if you end up running a dome piston.

4.155" Bore X 3.75" Stroke.
6cc 4VR Piston, .039" Gasket.
.025" Deck Ht., **.064" Quench.
64cc = 10.89 Cr.
70cc = 10.24 Cr.
72cc = 10.04 Cr.
76cc = 9.66 Cr.

Using a .015" Shim Gasket will give a much better .040" Quench.
64cc Head = 11.56 Cr.
70cc Head = 10.82 Cr
72cc Head = 10.59 Cr.
76cc Head = 10.17 Cr.

** = Not Good.

I would go with the 70's only because I have kicked myself in the butt for buying 64's and not being able to use them with the turbo setup that I want to build. 70's would give you more options IMO.
