Any way to tell the differance between the 8.2 and 8.5 A-Body rears from the outside, Tube diameter or markings or something? I plan on running a spool and 4.56 or 4.88 gears and found a Chevelle 10 bolt fairly cheap.. Will a 8.5 spool work in the 8.2 housing if it is an 8.2 set up?

If it's the factory rear, it won't be an 8.2". Chevelles all got 8.5" & 12 bolt rear axles.

I probably can get You all kinds of 8.2's for $60 each. The are not near as good as a 8.5 and only a little better than a 7.5. I wouldn't give $200 for 3 of them.
I don't think the axles or spool will fit. If You want a 8.5 Chevelle rear I can probably find You one.
