700R4 CONVERSION

I modified the TH350 crossmember. The best thing to do is once you have the transmission bolted to the engine, lift it up from the rear high enough to slide the crossmember in there, bolt it to the frame then drop the transmission to see where the transmission mount sits. Then go from there. I hope this helps. I had to cut about 2 inches off the crossmember tab where the mount bolts to and then drilled new holes to match the new transmission mount position. Let me know how it turns out.

OK cool. I have the crossmember from my 350c, and a Jegster dual hump made of a 350 so between those 2 I can make one work without cutting up my 200R4 crossmember

I using a driveshaft from a late 70s 2nd gen f-body. Its 3in shorter than the stock shaft.

Who built your 700?

I've built several 4L60-E's in cars that are WELL over 4400lbs, running in the elevens and high tens. Never had an issue. Built right, behind a big block in a light car like ours, that trans should last forever.

Got the driveshaft in today. 3" shortened was perfect. The crossmember was a easy modification. I cut about 1 1/2 inches off the mounting tab and drilled new holes of what was left and ovaled the holes. It fit perfectly. All I have left to do is hook up the detent cable, the lock up switch for the coverter, fill with transmission oil and get a new shifter. The Z-Gate I bought and the star shifter I had from B&M will not work cause they are made for a 3 speed transmission. I need to get a shifter for the 700R4. A 4 speed shifter. Hopefully the local part store has one in stock. I will let you guys know how this monster transmission works. It is the most complete conversion kit I have seen. Let's see if everyone will "EAT MY SHIFT" like they claim. dancin_banana.gif

I have the starshifter installed in mine with a 700r4 I just dont use low 1... Mine has a billet servo for the 1/2 shift so I just leave mine in second when I race and 2nd bangs at 5500 then I do the 2/3 shift.
