Hey folks sorry if it seems like I don't have a clue what is going on. I just am new to the g-body cars. My question is does anyone know for a fact that an 8.5 out of GTO, 442 Grand Sport will bolt right up to a malibu wagon? Will all the control arm locations be the the same?
Thanks,
Tyler

Does anyone know if the stock GM drum brakes will work on a Strange S60 bolt-in housing, or do you have to get different brakes?

it depends which axle tube ends that strange puts on the s60. I'm just about positive that the stock g-body brake backing plates won't go onto the S60.

Stock G-body drum backing plates are all there own. Just use the stock 4 bolt mid size backing plate with all the s-10 1996 brakes and you will be good get the S60 with GM small bolt pattern flange and ford bearing custom axles. When you buy a custom rear diff you can build it any way you want ...that is why it is so expensive...LOL. Jim

8.5 question. No the 1971 1972 A-body will NOT just bolt right into your g-body wagon chassis with out some upper and control arm mods...spring perches are off the width is wider by 3" shock mounts are at the wrong angle...etc. I you have time you can change some stuff but your still stuck with the uppers and Ice man sell uppers to deal with that problem. I use the upper he builds and he even built custom uppers for my custom 8.5 rears I build from 73-77 housings.

Good luck with the S60, man that has got to be a chunk of money. :) Jim
