Wade,
I know this is an old post, but I have been busy over the last year. Was doing some catching up.

I have a rear out of a 1986 Olds Cutlass 442. The code on the axel tube is "2TR6G353" on mine.

So any idea what mine is then?

my numbers are similar to yours.

mine 8TFG014

yours 2TR6G353

I bought new gears ,posi, axels and installation kit and it's built now so i guess it's all interchangable for what ever it is but i sure do wish i knew what it is exactly.
thanks for posting workingr.

Closest I can get with those numbers are 2TP (2TR) being a 8.5 3.42 200r4 transmission 3.8 litre engine 1986 numbers...

The other one( 8TF) closest I can get is a 8TP being a 3.8 200r4 transmission and 3.42 8.5 rear again 1985...

I tried...Jim

Now that 8TF could be a 3TP making it a open 3.42 8.5 also...??? But on the Buick GN forum 3TP is a limited slip 3.42 8.5. So someone has there number wrong as usual on the internet. GO figure!

The 2TR could be a 2TF 3.73 open diff from a monte carlo SS but that is a 7 5/8 rear...???
