hey guy,

ive done a quick search but have only come up with for sale items...im interested in buying an aluminum core support to put in a '78 malibu...is it a direct bolt in for my car with no modification to it to either the car nor the support itself??

thanks for an information,
Kyle

I found out it was not a direct swap. It fits and bolt holes line up, but thats about it. You have to cut the support to clear the larger headlights, which was no big deal. Then I found out the header panel doesn't clear. Instead of hacking the core support up, I cut out the rear top section of the header panel above the head lights so the header panel would sit properly. I could snap some pics if you'd like.

burny88,
Not all aluminum core supports are exactly alike. I think you'll find the 78 Grand Am aluminum core support as close to bolt in as you'll find (if you can find one! it's a rare piece). I've got one for my 80 El Camino and it's amost identical to the steel one! Very minor differences!
