im looking to paint my malibu myself but i have a trouble area can anyone help me out with any tips or suggestions on how to repair this.. this is my first time trying this so i need help....tools,material etc etc..

First off what u should have never done is taken the old bondo out of it.But thats fine. There doesnt seem to be any holes in it so what id do is feather out past your repair and re bondo it.its kind of an art to get the panel correct.Its really hard for me to explain how to do it unless i was there physically showing you.Anyway after you bondo it take some 36 grit on a hog and sand to give it the shape it needs..re bondo it take some 80 grit and hog it again going into your feather edge..when u hit bare metal STOP ..re bondo again and knock the high spots off with the 80 grit on a hog.Then its all block sanding from there..Put some 80 grit on a 12inch block and re shape it ..If you like how it looks go to 150 grit to knock out the 80 grit scratches.Keep in mind if u hit bare metal STOP...once u get the shape with the 150 u will need to put a skim coat of finer bondo on it they sell it and its a finer bondo then regular bondo.You can DA that with 150 grit moving it at a good pace across the panel to get the roughness out.Then spray the repair area with some guide coat.put some 240 grit on a 12inch sanding block and hand block it till all the 150 grit marks are gone.Respray it with guide coat again and go down to 320 grit block paper on the 12 inch. If u like how it looks without going through to metal then it should be ok to prime.. Get that far and ill tell u how to finish out the primer.If this is too much work for u then replace the panel!! HINT>>> When u prime panel u will see the wavyness in it when primer is wet!! Hit those spots a little harder the next coat to (fill) them in then over coat it all with primer.

Welll I vE Always Been Scared Of The Thougt Of Doing Body Work And After Reading That Little SPat There And Seeing That The Area In The Picture Is My "Problem" Area As Welll Im Gonna Have To Find Some Quarter Panels Whether I Wanna Or Not... If The Problem Area Didnt Involve The Lip Over The Wheel Well And Was Just Flat I Might Try It But That Lip Thing There Kinda Intimidates Me A Bit..Are My Thoughts Right About This Area Is It A Tough Fix To Repair That Lip?? Or Should I Try And Fix Mine Like Mr. Kuruption Has Done????

Check your local body shop supplier for a quality grade of filler and hardner. Mix it like it says and spread it.
Just use a good eye, shape it to be a bit more than exactly like you want. Work it down with the grades of paper like shaggy said. Take your time and let the paper do the work.
Do some "youtube" video searchs and you might find some instructional help there.
Stop by a local body shop and ask for some pointers. Some guys will help, some won't.
