I've been reading good and bad about this..mostly bad... Who has done it and would you recommend it? If not.. what are the alternative with a BUDGET in mind?

I need some stoppers but I dont want to trade one problem for another.

TIA as always..

I have done the b-body spindle swap on my Malibu. I am very pleased with the results. The only negative thing about the swap is the increase in bumpsteer. Some notice bumpsteer, and some don't. A lot depends on your areas streets condition (rough or smooth). I have corrected the bumpsteer on my car by building my own custom centerlink that is adjustable. After measuring the bumpsteer I was shocked at the amount that was there because I never even noticed it. Bottom line, the bumpsteer wasn't a big deal at all for me. Not enough to overshadow the increase in braking power and handling.

A good alternative would be a kit from http://www.scandc.com/. Although they are not very budget minded IMO.

i'm pleased with the swap, panic stop time has improved dramatically. to be honest, i was worried about the bumpsteer issue as well, and i can't say that i've noticed any change after the swap. however, opinions do seem to vary on this quite a bit.

i'd say go for it, i know there's others here running the same...maybe they'll chime in with more feedback.

I had no regrets in doing my swap. Now that there're brakets available to do the late model camaro brakes using your own spindles, may want to look into that and see what the cost difference is. A friend of mine with a GN is going that route.

Well I went to the Turbo Buick site to find then and I guess the guy that made them doesn't anymore.

http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/brakes-suspensions-tires-wheels/209653-ls1-front-adapter-brackets-who-makes-em.html

According to there thread, there is someone that will make them.

I wonder if something like the above could be made to work?

Tony,
When I was going to do a big-brake swap, I was going to do LS1-brakes all the way around. The backs are a bolt-on deal. The fronts, you need to find the hub assembly on a 98+ Blazer or 99+ S-10 with the ZQ8 suspension package.

That hub will allow you to run the smaller 11" brakes off of the S-10, the 12" brakes off of the Camaro/Firebird, or the 13" Brakes off of the C5's.

I went back and found some old topics...

BTW, I'm working on getting pricing on the LS1 brackets that were posted. Since everyone on TurboBuick was just talking, I'll see if I can make something happen.

For those interested, I should have pricing tomorrow on this bracket in 5/16" in Aluminum.

Any idea as far as demand? I did reply over on Turbobuick's. I'd imagine pricing will be cheaper with the more I have done...only having one set isn't worth the time or cost.

After I get pricing, I'll know more.
