Small block and big block clamshells are interchangeable for a cars, but NOT interchangeable between trucks. If you are going SB to BB in truck, use the ones off the truck. Same with a car, use the SB mounts on the BB. Found this out the hard way years ago.

No difference in 2wd to 4wd truck pan, they are all the same. Tall deck uses a much bigger pan and won't fit in a car. At least I think, said pan had 1/4" clearance in a 4wd truck.

And no such thing as a tall deck 454. Course the blocks are the same just the stroke is different, so you could make a tall deck 454, just not done from the factory.

Not all small block, big block clamshells are the same in cars.

Here you can see the difference between the two.

So make sure you get a matching set

both are from a chevelle one with a factory SBC and the other with a factory BBC

I shouldn't have said all cars are the same, I never had a factory big block car. I know when I had my other malibu that I put a 468 in, I tried the mounts that were off the 454, and they wouldn't work, I took the mounts off the small that was in the car, bolted right in. For the past 10-12 years I've been messing with trucks, and I know they are the same between small and big block.

i just did a dmax repower on a CK pickup.. the standard short GM clamshell where too tall.
so i made some. was able to make them almost 1.5" shorter then the over all hieght of the short setup.

i used the f body solid frame and motor mounts from jegs with a street / strip 6 qt oil pan............fit perfect.......
