Guys, I scored a g-body rearend with a Detoit locker, 4.56's,
Moser axles, C-Clip eliminators, And an Aluminum Girdle for
virtually free \:D/ My Question is it has the 2 piece c-clip eliminators
and it looks like they were leaking, {alot of RTV oozing out}
I was looking for a "rebuild kit" for them, seals, O-rings
and gaskets but cannot find this style. I looked at the
Strange and Moser sites but no luck :? Does anyone
know who else may sell something I could work with??
Thanks

I can't direct you towards the parts you need, but I can tell you that I've never seen that type of C-clip eliminator not leak.

Moser c-clip elim kit is a ONE piece aluminum set-up and I have had alot of good luck with them. remember the proper cutting of the housing and install is key to NO leaking. Usually the problem with most things in this world. INSTALL ERROR... No one ever wants to admit they screwed up. Just the American way. :) That is like Richmond gears all wine??? Ok? why are they still in business?

Strange is usually 2 piece elim kit and I would bet that is whos they are. They should have what you need. I would hope they would sell the 'o' ring for there items???

If you do have to get new ones buy the Moser...Just better design in my book. Jim

Yah and I will beat the installer blamed the gears right??? I hear that so much. I can kind of understand when you start to get into the steeper gear 4.10 and up but even that sometimes is a cop out.

Don't get me wrong...there are bad low finished gears out there usually 130.00 and less. The top peaks of the gears are usually not angle cut to releave the sharp edge when the gear was machined. So when the hypriod gears come off each other and are not quiet set-up totall dead on they will resenate kind of like how a violin or and string instrument or a better example of a nice piece of crystal and take the water and rub your finger round and round the rim edge till the glass resentate a pitch noise. There you go... :)

This is why you want that pattern to touch in the middle of each side of the face of the coast and drive side. Good luck and always ask questions of your mechanic and see if all they say makes sense. If your unsure or it seems iffy or they have NO answers maybe think twice about tossing the money. Jim

Jim, Pulled apart the rear end, and was wondering
how in the H*** do you get the c-clip elims. off??
I know they are pressed on, I put the axle in liquid
nitrogen, then in a large arbor press but they
would not budge. I want to switch to the 1 piece
design instead of the 2 piece ones that are on now.
Any other suggestions??????

that must be some arbor press to get a axle in i just press them off in my press put bearing splitter behind the c clip eliminator and press on the axle helps if you can cut the lock collar off first.

Lock collar???? Dont see one, It looks like there is
a collar but it is pressed on and goes into the bearing.
Dont see any type of "lock", snap ring, etc. I guess I
could always cut them off very carefully. The arbor
press is mighty big, glad I have access to it when ever
I need it!!!!!!!!

Lock ring would be a pressed on collar butted up to bearing sometimes you cant cut them because the eliminator goes over it sometimes it is so hard to explain things when you dont have part in front of you to show lol
