car shut off

So I'm sitting at the bank waiting my turn at the teller window and the car just shut off,

So I go to try and restart it an nothing, it was like the switch was dead, no power nothing nada.

Headlights still come on

Battery is fully charged.

So I'm wondering what the culprit is.

I'm thinking maybe one of the wires to the starter shorted out or came disconnected

Does this sound like the cause to you guys.

Anyone ever have this happen

It was a bad fusible link, had to replace the wire to the altenator as well, it had rubbed bare and was grauonding to the block blowing the link.

Got her going this afternoon

Thanks guys

pretty sure the car would still run if the fusable link was blown out, but the heads lights and all interior power would be blown out.

There are two fusible links at the starter, one controls ignition, the other power to headlights ect
