Hello , i have a rebuilt 355 cid , flat top pistons whith 041 heads about 9.8 - 10.1 comp/ratio comp 280/480 hyd cam , eddy performer rpm intake, headers and a holley 600. the 600cfm needs rebuilt .would a holley 650 cfm vac sec or the 670 cfm vac sec holley avenger carb be better or just rebuild the 600 ? also electric or man choke ? its a daily driver but very little highway. Also whats a good plug to run with the 041S ? thanks for the help. Terry

Right out the Box the Edelbrock 750 AFB Type Performer Carb will work real nice on your 355 . If your good at tricking Holleys the 3310 750 V/S Holley also will work well when the Mods are made . For a Choke the Electric is the much better way to go . Many Guy will say 650 CFM is big enough for the 355 . I have always ran Fast times at the Track with the 750 vs 650 Carbs on an 327-355 Build . As for the Spark Plugs R45S Gaped at .045" Should work well 8)

Funny a question like this came up just the other day on another board and the best answer was as follows:
Volumetric efficiency X Engine CI X Max RPM/3456
You can adjust for volumetric effiency this way:
85% for a stocker
100% for a better breather
110% for a well cammed and headed engine

So 355 X 6000 = 2130000/3456 = 616 CFM so a 600 would be snappy but a bit small, and the others would be a bit big but usable on account of the vacuum secondaries.

That formula pops up lots of places. I saw it in the new Summit catalog just Saturday.

The stock Q-Jet's are 750 CFM V/S . They work well also if Set-up right . I have tried that Math when Building Hot Rods . Then I track tested as many parts as I could . The 750 seems to be very much at home on a 350-355 Street / Strip Build .

no one here seems to address the fact that you said daily driver. If you want the car to be crisp and very drivable I would go with a 600 or 650. They offer very good throttle response and good low end. If you looking to race it, the 750 would do good if tuned right. I have a motor almost the same as yours and I run a edelbrock 1406 that is with electric choke, and man it runs great, respones prefect.

The one thing I can say about that Edelbrock Performer AFB Type 600 Carb . Right out of the Box they will out perform the stock 600 Holley V/S . You are right about thinking about the daily driver part . But then I would go a step down on that camshaft to a Comp Cams XE262H .
