I'm wondering if I could benefit from a carb spacer, I know a lot of people claim that it helps but I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with anything similar. This is my setup:

388
dart sportman II heads
comp xe274h cam
holley street dominator intake
holley 650dp

I have tried reading around but it hasn't really helped me figure anything out. Can my engine benefit from a spacer? I definitely have room (unless I ditch my cowl hood). What kind of spacer should I run if I get one?? Thanks!

Spacers aren't a set-in-stone improvement. You need to try different ones on the dyno or at the track so you can keep track of data. Every engine is different & even though some things are constant, different engines respond differently to different spacers. Generally a 4 hole spacer increases low end torque, open spacers increase top end power.

I figured as much but was hoping someone here was running a similar combination and would have some insight. Unfortunately there is no dyno around here to get the car on..

Try a Super Sucker style spacer. It helped our combo. :D

Yep im running an HVH 1" super sucker!
They do pick up the throttle signal quicker and improves velocity in helping these single planes!

I also run a 1" HVH Super Sucker. Picked up 27 HP on the engine dyno versus no spacer. Then tried a 2" and it flattened out. Mine is the phenolic version, didn't know they made an aluminum one.

Is anyone also experimenting with the stub stack on their application with this spacer? http://www.knfilters.com/Racing/stubstacks.htm
