The plan is to figure out how to mount a decoupled torque arm into the g body chassis. If the tuning goes over my head then I'll fall back on the 3 link setup. The biggest challenge will be getting the lower control arms parallel from a top view perspective. As I want to limit the amount of bump steer. Soon the final tear down will begin (2 more project first). The other challenge will be making the upper 3rd link practical (as the torque arm mount is already figured out cool.gif ). Took some rough measurements and believe it will work.
Sorry for the thread hijack! BTW still think it applies though. Number crunching is on going so will not be posted till it is close to practical.

P.S. A watts linkage is going to be used for lateral location.

The best advice I can give here with respect to decoupled TA tuning is to visit FRRAX.com and look for posts by Unbalanced Engineering and sgarnett. Another guy there - JonA - is pretty knowledgeable about this sort of stuff though I don't know whether he ever got a decoupled TA for his own car. You'll have to register in order to see the suspension tech subforum, but it's free.

Coincidentally, there's a currently active/semi-active thread that concerns your other item - Watts links vs lowered PHB arrangements - here.

If you want your car to perform better with your upgrades. Consider the amount the stock G body frame and body flexes under manipulation, accelerating, turning, braking, etc. Found some solutions and ideas to combat some of the flex. Hope it helps in your project. http://gbodyforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=8126

In the bottom picture, am I looking a a standard lower ball joint or a "tall" one?

Reason I ask is that tall ball joints in either the upper or lower position will raise the front roll center, which would tend to dial out some transient "looseness".

Out of curiosity, what size were the 17" tires and how wide were the wheels they were mounted on.

Also, are you using spacers on the rear? I can't tell for sure but it doesn't look like you have any (if anything maybe 1/4" or 1/2"). What's your 8.5" out of? I've considered bolting in a wider 8.5" from a donor (B-Body, etc.) so I don't have to mess with spacers on the rear... not sure what I'd do about the front though. Is your frame notched at all?
