If not direct fit, how much extra mod work for pro mechanic doing R&R?

Wanted: Need any good-condition diff, prefer freeway gears, open OK, closer to N. Utah the better.

TIA!

These Rears are wider than a G-Body. I think the Lower Control Arm mounts need to be moved in and 12-Bolt conversion Upper Control Arms are needed.

My most humble apology for not posting yesterday when I found out the extra mod work is prohibitive. Thanks for the reply.

Your Bu is sharp!

its a bolt in...redrill the upper arms ( arms are already marked from factory) and get some rims with more backspace...oh ya and a 1" shorter driveshaft

The width may be acommodated with different wheels, but the control arm angles are different. Please explain to me what you mean by the "arms are already marked from the factory" as no G-body rear ever came in an A-body or vice-versa, so GM would have no need to "mark" a control arm for such an application.

Ive done about 5 of these swaps....the upper arms have little dimple holes about 1" in from the stock holes, drill those out and put your bolt in...done. I dont know why people make this out to be such a hard swap, pick up a $125 rear at a junkyard and if your lucky you can pick up one without c-clips and your even better off.

Which upper arms? The ones from the 73-77 A-body or the 78-88 G-body ones??

use the stock g body arms. the only reason you have to redrill the holes is to correct the pinion angle, its just as easy to set the rearend in the car, mount up the lower arms then get your pinion angle where you want it....pull upper arms down over the rear end ears and redrill your holes.

Must be drilling the new holes at the correct angle? Or would that even prevent binding? Wouldn't the UCA's still be tweaked?
