Drive Shaft/ Rear End Removal

I am removing the rear end on my 80 Malibu. I am running into a problem lifting off the drive shaft from the yoke. I removed the brackets that attached over the trunion caps and onto the yoke. According to Malibu manual, I should be able to lift the drive shaft end off the yoke and tie it out of the way on a muffler. Sounds easy, but like usual, it is not. I have given gentle taps to the bearing caps and yoke. The drive shaft is not lifting off.

Any suggestions, or ideas? ](*,)

Slide the driveshaft towards the transmission, and it will pop right out. Make sure you dont drop the caps off the u-joint.

Make sure your yoke it slip into the transmission, then normally a large flat head screwdriver or prybar will pop the u-joint out. It's probably stuck from our beautiful new England winters
