im getting ready to order a 9in for my elcamino and im wanting to run a 15x10 wheel. im on a stock frame and dont mind trimming/rolling the wheel well but really dont want to notch the frame. im not sure on the back spacing i need to run that wheel. i want to run a 295/55 3755R radial.

options be better if i order the 9in narrowed 1' 2' ??? also ill be running discs as well.

thanks for the help in advance. jim.

I don't think there is enough room for a 10" wheel. Doesn't matter how wide the rearend is. I think to run a 10" wheel you need to do a frame notch/mini tub and run 5.5" backspace with a stock width diff.
you could probably run a 10" wheel with 4" backspace and a real low profile tire that would stick out past the fender without the frame notch.

You don't have to notch the frame to run a 10" rim . You can run a 10x15 with 5.5 back spacing and all you have to do then is role the fender lip. I have done it , on my ol 79 and was running the 295-50-15 bf goodrich and it was perfect and plenty of room between frame and tire.

you must have had a wider rearend or wheel spacers and your fenders appear to be up above those short tires. I had 4" backspace wheel, stock width rear end and it would rub the frame occasionally with a MT ET street (28x11.5). I now have a 9" rearend that is about 1/4" per side wider and no more rubbing.
BTW - very cool car , I love the wheels and the hood. If you built that again it would be retro cool

If you are going for a modern "look" there is no way a 10" wheel will fit INSIDE the fenders without a big notch. Just depends what "look" you are after.

How big of a notch would you need to have to be able to fit a 10" wheel under the fender?..also how difficult would it be to do a notch with the body on the frame??? sorry don't mean to hijack the thread.

If your intending to order a new rear and new rims then measure carefully, I'm Judy going to let you know with a stock with 9" with discs, if you decide to have the rear stance below stock then you will have issues with your caliper and rear frame rail fighting for the same area. If I had to do it again I would order my rear wider and have more back space on the rims

BIG NOTCH! All the way back to the inside skin. Even then you'll have to play with wheel offsets to get it right, unless somebody can come along that did it and tell you what they used.
