I have used 1/2" aluminum line with brass fittings. its cheap and easy

.

you can barely see the type of fittings i'm talking about in these pictures. They use a single flare. Its best to bend the 1/2" line very slow and easy with your hands. Tubing benders usually just flatten it.

on your transition from tube you just single flared it then went to a brass fitting? (if i'm reading it right)..any problems ?.from the factory they have hose at the tank then hard lines..i wondered if those hoses were there because of ease of install or for flex between tank and frame??? is there any??...hey thanks for the pics!!! it all helps!

with a single flare on the alum tube. it works great and i have run it for years. I only worry about a flexible connection over to the engine .

hmmm looking closer i see you have a braided line from your pump over to the frame..my setup will be diff. i'm running a mechanical pump..so i'm trying to figure out if i could run hard line from the sump to the engine bay.. then a flex line to the pump..needing a flex line there makes sense..at the tank does not...i just cant see alot of flexing in between the tank and frame?..

i used to run a mechanical pump setup. I used alum line from the tank all the way to a canister filter (like the one pictured) mounted on the frame near the pump. Then flexible (either rubber hose or braided line) from the filter to the pump.

BTW - the professional products canister filter is only good for 450 hp, I now use a big inline filter.

ok kool so a hard line from the tank didnt leak after time ...sounds good..i appreciate the fitting link..where did you get the flare tool for that type of flare..i have one for brake lines style (inverted ?)..i was origianlly thought i would just use some of that..until i tried to find it..lol..no luck..the 383 i have is rated at 450..so i will also have to run a big inline filter..dam lots of good info!!..

use a regular flaring tool. I now use an inline ALLSTAR filter. It is about the biggest i could find at a decent price . Part #ALL40217 with a paper element or #ALL40219 with a stainless screen element. I think i'm using the paper one. It works excellent.

46.99 from summit ( i run 10 AN to the filter then 10 AN to the pump then 8 AN to the regulator). You could probably run 8 AN everywhere. the filter is #all40216 for 8 AN

when use say regular flaring tool..i assume you mean one for 37 deg. which i think is an-flare..a brakeline style flare is 45 deg..those i already have...just want to make sure i get all this right..lol

i've only ever used a brakeline flaring tool. I didn't even know about the different angles. The alum is soft, maybe tightening it corrects the angle anyways. If you have access to the proper angled tool then use it.
