Hi Guys ; Strange problem - About a week ago, the choke, battery and seat belt lights came on, very dim. When I accelerated they would come up to full brilliance and when I would hit the brake pedal, they would go dim again. If I stopped for about a minute, they would go out completely, then start the process all over again upon acceleration. Yesterday, the gauge fuse popped (20A). This is a different circut. I replaced it, took the car out for a spin, and it popped after about a minute. The choke, battery and seat belt lights are still doing the same thing. I pulled the cluster out of the car, inspected the circut board and tested, found no shorts or corrosion. I checked the wiring harness as best I could and could not find anything obvious. I suspect the fuel gauge as a possible culpret, but I don't know how to check it. I have continuity from post to post and from one post to ground, the other post to ground is open. Can someone please enlighten me on how to properly check this gauge? Also, has anyone experienced this type of problem before and found the cause? The car is a bone stock '80 Bu, never messed with. Wiring harness has never been hacked into and appears in good shape. Thanks for any help or ideas.
