GO SBC OR BBC ???

i have a 496 bbc in 1 of my other cars should i put it in my malibu or go sbc a freind of mine has a 361 block i can get 4 a $100.00 ..machine work has been done.i can get the crank 4 another $100.00 ...i want the car to be street /strip car 50/50.. :?:

Depending on how radical you get with cam timing, I'd say use your big block. Torque is accelreation & cubic inches= torque. A "mild" 450 hp 496 wil make a LOT more torque & be much more dirveable than a 450 hp 350...

yes i know..the 496 in my 80 camaro "sold" best ET..7.14 best .60ft 1.58 best mph 99.6 in the 1/8 with tire spin...

I'm there with ya. I've got a 406 flat tappet around 6.80 in the eighth. To get more out of it I need to go "exotic" with solid roller etc. I'm beginning to think a reliable 700 horse motor would be a bbc. -- IE-stock rods, crank, heads, etc. vs. chinese aftermarket stuff to make a sbc live at 600horses plus.... I have a boatload of sbc stuff but may make the switch.
