Its not as bad as it may sound. I'd try to get the 6.2, but remember that it is drive by wire, so get the gas pedal as well. Those engines make 400 hp out the gate, which is plenty to start with, but if you want to get a good cam for it just search around on ls1tech.com The engine should be the most expensive part of the process. Either that or you can look for the car motor ls2 from a gto, not too expensive and you'll have lower sitting car accesorries which is a great help. Motor mounts can be had from brphotrods.com or at summitracing.com from transdapt

I'd search local craigslists posts and car-part.com for the engine itself. Everything after that is cake. too many people have done it and ran into the problems for you to have too many problems yourself. I'd go with a cam swap and maybe redo the heads (most are aluminum) with a good port adn polish and some stronger components like rockers/springs/valves and call it plenty wtih some headers.

Welcome to the club and can't wait to see pictures as you start it up. Any specific questions you've got, ask away!

i was told that you can't carb a 6.2 because you have to change a bunch of things,is that true?if so i will run the 6.0.also do they make engine plates for malibu's that want to run the ls motor?i will be doing the head&cam swap.

I believe that right now there isn't a direct swap to make the 6.2 carbed w/o changing and spending a whole bunch of money. The 6.0 and the 5.3 and 4.8 all have the kits you can get from summit or almost any other high performance place. as for the plates www.brphotrods.com has plates, or you can call summit, tell them what your doing and they'l tell you which transdapt parts your needing. Are you going with the 4l60e/4l80e style trans, or sticking to the older one? If the older one, I do believe that you'll need an adapter plate as well.

thanks for the info.well i guess i will be doing the 6.0,and yes i will be keep my th350 w/the break .i'm rebuilding that transmission on tuesday so as soon as i sale this bbc i have i will be ording my motor.i have read where guys have gone as fast as 6.80,6.90 on motor with heads and cam swaps on these motors.thats what i'm trying to do.leaving on the break won't be a problem because my car is already set up for that abuse.and with alittlel bit of spray i'm sure i can make it fly.damn, this is gonna be fun.its crazy how much power these motors make with just heads and cam.

Thats where BRP is talking about what they've done to the engines and what they've gotten out of it. I believe that with that motor adn just a carb it ads power...depending on what you get for intake and carb eh. I do think that you may need a new torque converter as well, but don't quote me on this. I was just asking, because if you can get the 4l80 with the engine, it'd be worth it. I run one with my setup no problems, so i can drive daily and race it, but my buddy runs low 9's (1/4 mile) with a turbo'd 6.0l and a stock 4l80 (minus converter). Just thought I'd throw that out there. Again, if you've got questions, just lemme know on here or through a pm.

I read an artical in super chevy a few yrs back where they carbed a newer 6.2 escalade engine. GM performance parts sells the intake manifold and maybe even the MSD box as well. With a cam swap it dynoed at close to 550
