I'm strongly thinking of beginning my own carb'd ls project. Can someone with more gen III knowledge and experience give me an opinion/input on the following parts that I can pick up locally for a good price (I think anyway). I want to pick up this weekend if this is a good starting point, so let the opinions fly! The seller is telling me 10.8cr, is that gonna work with 93 octane? Also, telling me high 4xx hp, can any confirm that? I can get it for considerably less than what he mentioned he has in it.
"Stock block 347 with mahle forged pistons, comptech forged 6.125 rods, polished crank, Melling oil pump ported by thunderracing, ASP pulley, ported and polished heads with 3 angle valve job with springs to hold the TREX v2 cam, compcam lifters. Zero miles. Everything is brand new NOT assembled!!!
I have 3800 tied up in just the parts, gaskets, studs, not including the machine work of the block honing and balancing of the rotating assembly.
Everything is here to put it together , just need to take it to a engine guy to have assembled, its ready to go. I sold my car before finishing this project."
