I have a chance to get a good deal on some new performance heads but they have 72cc combustion chambers. The engine I want to use them on is an 89 Chevy truck TBI 350.

If I remeber correctly the stock haeds have smaller chambers possibly 64cc or 56cc, so I would loose compression. Probably the best way to bring the compression back up would be flat top pistons.

To ensure that these heads will work for me, I'm hoping you guys can get me some concete info on the stock 350, such as:
1. actual head combustion chamber volume
2. the amount of dish on the factory pistons.

I want to keep compression where I can still use regular gas.

Re: Head/oiston CC volume

Don't think it will matter, as the T.B.I. intake won't fit conventional heads, I think.

Good point Goob. I should give more specifics. The motor mentioned, is in my Lemans with a performer intake and QJet. Its a pre 86 performer but the center bolt holes were elongated to fit the heads.

If I get the heads I want to upgrade to an RPM air gap intake.

Stock 350 TBI heads were 64cc- all of them. Flattops would bring compression up very close to stock with 72cc heads. You're on the right path.
