If you have the cardboard unit, glue won't eat it, if you have the Styrofoam unit you just need to be more careful wire brushing the old foam off and spray the glue in lighter coats using a couple of extra coats to make up for it. I hate the Styrofoam it's much harder to work with overall. You can also use package shelf board to cut the board from, it's very similar to the headliner cardboard that comes in many cars.

Or, if you can afford it, remove it and take it to an upholstry shop and let them do it. Around here, you can get it done for $50-80.

You can also get a new ABS plastic board withthe material already installed if your board is bad at all, I got one thru Tamrazs for my 1978 Malibu and it worked out good. They can also get the material and the 3M glue. Their number is 1-800-442-4601 if your interested.

The ABS board are JUNK, they don't hold their shape for very long from the heat. I covered and installed one in may, and by july every place that was not sandwhiched between anything had started to bow and sag. At first I thought I got a bad 5 gallon can of glue, and the glue let go but that was not the case.

Here is a good place for the headliner cloth.

Here is a link to their headliner kits.

IMO..........they're heavy, and start sagging under their own weight.
I think it'd be better to use the original foam or cardboard.

Thanks Randy. All my headliner boards are styrofoam. So I can use the same 3M glue just more light coats ? Thanks Doug
