Has been a minute since my last rear gear setup, and Im having a brain fart.
Do you all see any issue with this gear mesh setup?
It is going to be a street with occasional abuse. 😬
Reused the factory pinion shim which is .036
Everything else is new.
Back lash is at .009
3.55 US Gear.

Thanks

The new pattern looks like the old pattern.
How much smaller of a pinion shim did you use?
Do you have the ability to measure the pinion depth, and compare to the markings on the new pinion gear?

I hope someone else chimes in.

Yes, I do have the T&D Machine pinion depth tool and the Ratech pinion tool.
Both showed I needed a .011 pinion shim.
I use the .011 shim and I get a heel and toe contact.
Each time with a .009 back lash.

Have never had an issue like this before.
Have taken it apart and back together so many times.
And for some reason I cant seem to get a center drive and coast pattern. IDK...

The T&D Machine tool should be good. The Ratech tool is not so good.
Are you using the same bearings to measure the depth and view the wear pattern? I don't agree with the use of setup bearings.

As the pattern seems to be centered between heel and toe, you may be OK as is.
