Well im installing a th400 trans and need a converter. Comp Cams says 3k stall but some reason i think this motor will want 3500 to 4000.

355
9.5-1 comp
world product torquer heads
292h cam
2inch tapered carb spacer
750dp
Hurricane intake (knockoff victor jr)
1.5 roller rockers
3.73 gears but moving to 4.10 at another time.

Gross Valve Lift 0.501
Duration At 0.006 Tappet Lift 292
Duration At 0.050 244
Lobe Lift 0.334
Lobe Separation 110

Honest guess of weight would be about 3300-3400lbs with me in it.

I have the same cam in my 406 with a 24-2600 stall 10 inch convertor. Its a little lazy.It street drives very well though. With the smaller engine and less compression I would go with a stall speed closer to 400 rpm. Like a hughes GM40 or a redneck 9.5 inch. That is what I have on order so I cant report on its manners. I am also not concerned with streetability anymore though.

x2 a converter is the one of the most over looked but important parts dont waste the money call jw, coan, or anyother high quality company. most will take it back and adjust the pitch if its not right....try and get that with any of the cheap ones

i called a bunch and everyone recommended between 3000-4000. So i got a redneck 3500. I couldn't seeing spend money on better name. I only got 700$ in whole motor and 200 in the trans. I ran out of money from building the car.

Hi trac 9inch with 35 spline axles 3.70 gears and spool
Tubed control arms with heims
boxed frame and rewelded all factory welds
braced frame mounts for control arms
cut out from cross member and inserted a tube setup
redid hole front end and por 15 the frame
cage built and cert for 8.50
Cleaned and painted everything under the car
redone interior
and alot of other stuff you wouldnt beleive what everything added up to.

If someone wanted to donate better motor setup i would be happy to take it. :)

Given that a wagon is a little heaver, a little more stall definately helps during street driving. I have a 3600 stall in my 81 2dr paired with a 3.73 and it feels really well and launches hard. Launched hard enough at commerce to snap the 7.5 on street tires lol

I have talked to many people and they all say that they flash right at what it is rated at. Everyone seems really impressed with their products.
