LQ4/T56 turbo swap

Hi folks-
I'm considering swapping a turbo LQ4 and a T56 into a g-body. I like the idea of classic styling and a well known/supported platform coupled with new technology. I know that I will be on my own when it comes to the turbo part, but what about the motor/trans part? I was planning on using the BRP kit with the LH8 pan to get the motor in, and I have a few ideas about the hot side routing for the turbo that I haven't fully explored yet.

I am pretty set for the motor swap -- what about the T56 swap? I will be getting the entire setup out of an fbody when I find a deal, but what else will I need to do the swap?

Thanks for your help!

BTW I will be doing a host of other mods including C5 discs all around, HR full rear suspension and SC&C AFX stage 3 kit up front... should be fun!

Make sure you dont get a 99 LQ4 as the crank is different and you cant run that flywheel I believe. You may want to do a bit more research on this over at ls1tech.com just to be sure on the years, etc.

Are you running a truck intake and stock hood? If so, it wont clear using BRP mounts. Also, the CTS-V pan is better than the LH8 pan. I have no idea why BRP is using that pan when the caddy pan gives you more ground clearance.

You can use all the f-body stuff including the hydraulics...just get yourself a John Bzdel clutch pedal and you're done! [email protected]

More info on the T56 swap. A lot of it wont apply, but some will. http://www.shiftn6.com/6gearg.html

Thanks for the reply. How does your car run with the swap? Do you have a link to a build thread?

Ive got some part throttle issue going on yet when its in closed loop. Ive forced the ECM into open loop for the time being and it runs great. I am a bit surprised how strong a 325 hp 6.0 runs in this car.

Heres the link to my build: http://www.maliburacing.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=73834

Good luck. Keep us updated.
