Re: NEW Project 1978 Malibu LQ9/4L65 Swap 4-28-11 Running Ag

Yea i cracked alright! Well i did make it to the track but we still had a traction control perimeter in the file. We readjusted that and then it was running real rich. We dyno'ed it last Weds and on its last pass with 417RWHP we hurt the motor. Seems that since i took all the rod caps off to inspect the bearings and reinstalled these bolts are Torque to yield which means they are only good for one use. Needless to say 2 pistons came up and hit the passenger head, cracking my valves, bending valves, block and crank are fine and even some of the pistons but may have a line oon a real cheap LS3 and that might just be awesome.

I will keep ya updated.

Always install new stock bolts or Katech bolts in the rods once loosened.

That really sucks to hear, hopefully it's back on the road soon. What oil pan is that? I was told the CTS-V pan fits really well with the BRP mounts, and yeah it doesn't.

Keep Your eyes open because most likely i will be selling it as a roller or chopping it up for parts to be sold.

Oil Pans -- Current i was using stock escalade pan with BRP mounts and Long Tubes from BRP.

Other best option is Muslecar Pan which runs 135-145 from cratemotors.com and fits i think the best.

Well Guys,

We have had some trouble in the past few years. Finnally got a new motor, new heads, and new cam.
Stock LQ9 Block, Stock Rods, Crank, and Pistons, Stock 243 Heads, Spec'd Cam, New Springs, New Pushrods,
Stock LS6 Intake and DBW Throttle Body. Of course got motor back in car and first drive noticed transmission started
slipping so out came the trans and got rebuilt, just had it retuned on Sunday in maryland.

422 RWHP / 397 RWTQ

So just got a couple mods to do then we will be hitting the track to break the 10 sec's N/A
