Pitman arm question.

I just swapped a mid 80's Firebird steering gear into my 83 Malibu wagon. I found that the pitman arm mount on the box itself is larger on the f body box vs the malibu one. Can I simply buy a new f body piman arm or am I gonna have to get a new steering gear?

Which stock box did your wagon have? A model 800 "four bolt" or a 608 "round top"? If you have the 800, you need the arm from your old box.

It looks like the 600 series round top.

So the pitman arm off of the 4 bolt top steering box fits the f body box and the monte ss style box?

If your G-body had a 4 bolt box from the factory, the pitman arm from it will fit the Monte SS/IROC 1LE/Firebird WS6 "XH" box.

i went thru a pitman arm hassle about 6months ago..speedway has some and the one i needed..i like the tech. data they had so i could figure it out..good luck!
