I bought this rear end from a guy not far away from me. I found him on craigslist. He said it was a 7.5 10bolt posi most likely from a Monte SS. Personally i dont know squat about posi rears nor does my dad because his first car already had one so he didnt bother experimenting on it. Anyways, ive had my sneeking suspicion on this rear and ive been thinking that i just payed $200 bucks for another open rear. I took a few pics of the inside and compared to open and posi rears on google and it looks like its an open rear but both axles spin in the same direction when you spin it. Someone help me out here and tell me if anything send me pics of a stock 7.5 posi before i swap rears. Thanks alot.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Def not a posi. That is a regular old "limited slip" diff. Look on ebay and find a posi from a camaro or S10. The Astro van also has the same posi. Just make sure to get one '89 back 26 spline. You can usually find them for $200 or less.

"Posi" is a term GM came up with to call a limited slip diff, so when you read a car has a limited slip diff it meens it has a posi, the rear end he has is a open style one wheel wonder

you will find a set #s on the ring gear, divide the big number by the small number and you will get your ratio like a 3.08:1 would be 40/13

X2. post is GM's salesname for limited slip diff. Also, that's not a posi. No springs on the spiders. It's open.
