I have an 1980 Chevy Malibu with a GN 8.5 rear. Was wondering if anyone has bought any of the kits that are listed by various manufactures? If you have please let me know what one and how you liked it or what you might have done instead. I drive it on the street and I dont need anything special. Drums are messed up on mine and instead of messing with that. I want to just convert it to rear disc.

I know I will have to have another MC. I assume I will have to have new lines ran to the rear for the discs as well?

Thanks for any help you guys can give in advance.

You need to watch these guys. They are upgradeing the rear brakes to the 99-02 camaro rear disk brakes.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bl5a9ebiGq4&feature=g-u-u&context=G271929aFUAAAAHgAHAA. He has a Grand National rear end on his car.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0TdUKTOrA4&feature=plcp&context=C33303c8UDOEgsToPDskIrSdnVjBmuGiwUjGvfcTXo

if you plan to do the 98-02 f-body rear disc swap just remember that it requires this

and some creativity involving the e-brake

Yeah that's what I hear, but isn't it cheaper than buying the after market stuff?

depends on how much you've got in the f-body setup.....I think I had $100 or so in mine but they go for $300 or so

there is something to be said about "bolt-on" lol it took me 5 years and a switch to a manual transmission to finally get around to making the e-brake work ;)

I am all for just buying bolt on right now. I have the money and am really wanting to get the car back on the road. Will be also adding the fast ez efi. So we will see how it goes

I think I'll go with the bolt on set up.I'll just do the S-10 set up in the front with a line lock for the rear when I want to lay a lil rubber.
