YER NOT THINKIN' WITH YER DIPSTICK, JIMMY!!!

Sorry, I couldn't resist...

I don't know if there's statistical data about faster ETs or MPH improvements, but I know some synthetic oils like Royal Purple legitimately make a few more ponies on the dyno. The thing is, you have to ask yourself if 3 horsepower is worth $8.00/quart, especially like with our old GT1 car that held over a case of oil that would just get changed at the end of the weekend.

I agree about price being a factor for a few ponies. I used to wonder why synthetic motor oil price always went up with the price of regular oil. There is no magic mixture of chemicals that will create syn oil. I attended a seminar on lubricants and was educated that the reason syn oil is so expensive is because that it is regular oil refined over, over and over until it is virtually pure. Then the additives are added to create the oil mixture required. I use the website at: http://www.bobistheoilguy.com for most of my lubrication information now.
