Replace the rear rails just to cut them for a notch?

I need to put rear rails on my frame, but I'm going to notch the frame anyway. Is there really a point to spend the money on them only to cut them up? Wouldn't I just be better off getting some square tubing and making what I need out of it?

It can certainly be done either way. I think it boils down to personal preference. If I were doing it, I think I would use replacement rails.

It dependes on what class you run also. Some classes want stock rear frame rails on the inside.

No class, DD/pro-touring is what this car is about. MPG, comfort, and nastiness when go pedal is smashed.
