The motor in my Malibu is stock besides the cam/intake/carb/headers too. It maxes out above 4500 rpm

yours is also vortec headed and you have a bigger cam you have a comp xe268 \/

Stock springs will work but who wants to run old stock worn springs on a new cam?

Pick up a bottle of EOS lube from your GM parts dealer or elsewhere if cheaper. That will help with the cam break-in.

the stock springs i have are brand new, i my machinest sold me a bottle of EOS when i picked up my block told me that i should use it every oil change
