I'm looking for some direction on the correct placement of the G-Body seat spacers. Bought some seat adjusters and was happy to receive the hardware. I made an assumption the spacers are placed between the seat base and the seat track/adjuster to correct the way the seat sits in the car, but I don’t really know that for certain.
Unfortunately, the Service manual only makes the reference "be certain to pay attention to the location of spacers and reinstall in the same location". Thanks, I would have if I would have been the one taking the stuff apart but I wasn't and therefore need a little insight to their locations.
I'm not even really sure the G Malibu’s or wagons had the spacers. There's no reference to them in the parts catalog. It seems however that after a specific year, yet to be determined, the Monte Carlos and El Caminos used the spacers. Not sure what the change was that drove the spacer addition but that's what it looks like. Granted I haven't spent a great deal of effort researching the year breaks.
The photo shows what I have. I may need more or different stuff but I'm really curious as to what the OE position for the spacers is. I really don’t know what dictates whether they got tall, medium or short spacers and/or for which applications. The parts catalog only lists two part numbers but isn't specific enough as to where they should be located. ...
Surely half the people on this site have either replaced their carpet or replaced seats with something else. If anybody has the spacer key, I would appreciate a peek or if anyone has Monte Carlo or El Camino seats with the tracks/adjusters still installed, do me a favor and have a look between the seat track and the seat base. If there are spacers, let us know where they are (position on the seat) and how thick they are by position.
If not, I'll just experiment until I get the seat angle I'm looking for. Thankz. ...
